These prints were made during the time of sheltering in place when home has been a sanctuary as well as a place of confinement. They reflect my experience of the world in and around “home” during this time. All of the images incorporate a generic house shape with layers of plant forms, building materials, and various birds and insects. The mood is dark but the compositions are a hopeful reminder of the world around us that is still growing, changing, and waiting. 1/3 of the sale price of the sold prints were donated to the Evanston Community Foundation’s Rapid Response Fund, helping local families most in need as a result of the pandemic. The few remaining are in my personal collection. They are available as giclee prints.

As the pandemic rages on and life in and around our homes prevail, I continue explore home and what that means during this time in making these folded paper constructions, one for each month that Covid remains with us. Using monoprints for the exteriors and lining the interiors with Covid reports from newspapers and magazines, these houses mark this time in quarantine.
